One of our Austrian customers approached us with an interesting task. The customer’s product range includes abrasives on rolls with outer packaging made of wrapping paper and corrugated cardboard. The maximum weight of the roll is 500 kg per piece. The rolls can have different diameters (200 mm to 700 mm) and different lengths (1,300 mm to 2,000 mm).
In addition, the rollers must be picked up upright from floor level or a pallet using clamps, lifted up and turned 90° to the left or right. This is necessary for correct machine loading.
What solution has the Fa. ING. M. SCHURZ come up with in this case? A specially manufactured rotating SCHURZ roller clamp – this enabled us to successfully implement our customer’s wishes.
The SCHURZ roller clamp consists of a basic vehicle and a hydraulic attachment consisting of a sideshift, 180° rotator and roller clamp body. A Jungheinrich EJC 214 electric pedestrian stacker with a basic load capacity of 1,400 kg at LSP 600 mm was selected as the basic vehicle, which was adapted accordingly. This included adapting the wheel arm length to the required dimension and operating the hydraulic functions via the basic truck using an additional hydraulic unit.
