We were able to implement a particularly exciting project for one of our customers from Germany. This involved the conversion of a front forklift truck with a sideshift unit or, in other words, with a swivel push fork.
Narrow aisle systems are usually operated using high-bay stackers with swivel push forks, among other things. This allows the aisle width to be reduced and more storage space to be generated. However, these devices are only intended for indoor use and not for outdoor work. A different forklift truck usually has to be used to unload the truck or manipulate it outdoors. This means that two forklifts are always required.
In order to combine these two functions in one device, which can be used both indoors and outdoors, the company has developed the ING. M. SCHURZ has already converted front loaders to narrow-aisle trucks several times for other well-known forklift manufacturers. This time it was a Hyster dealer from Germany who relied on these special conversions from the company. ING. M. SCHURZ and subsequently placed the order.
In this particular case, the initial vehicle is the HYSTER E4.0XN front forklift truck with a basic load capacity (with triplex mast) of 4,000 kg at an LSP of 500 mm up to a lifting height of 4,400 mm.
This front loader was fitted by the company. ING. M. SCHURZ mounted a special side shifting device. The lift mast, carriage, etc. were reinforced or modified for the additional lateral loads. The lift mast tilt was converted to a rigid connection, which provides additional stability. A support plate tilt is integrated in the swivel push fork, which then works correctly in every position. Last but not least, an FEM stability test was carried out and the load capacity was redetermined, and a new test book and load capacity plate were issued.
This means that the SCHURZ side shifting device with forklift adaptation is optimized for unloading or loading a truck from one side only and outdoors, as well as for storage in the warehouse racking system.
