The SCHURZ Betonelemente Kombi pedestrian stacker was designed and manufactured for our customer, who manufactures special concrete elements.
This is a multifunctional vehicle, as the customer has to pick different products individually several times a day. The challenge is to manipulate various water channels with a width of 150 – 400 mm, a length of 1,200 mm and a maximum weight of 80 kg, as well as various drainage boxes that have to be collected from different storage locations and assigned to the individual customer orders.
In this case, the SCHURZ combi pedestrian stacker was additionally equipped with a carrying mandrel that was specially designed for transporting the concrete channels. This is because the channels cannot be picked up and transported without damage using the existing wide forks of the pedestrian pallet truck.
By using this special fold-down mandrel integrated in the lift mast, it is now possible to pick up the channels simply and easily by the driver driving the SCHURZ Betonelemente pedestrian stacker to the desired storage position, positioning the vehicle straight in front of the pallet and driving in under the pallet with the wheel arms. In order to be able to position the carrying mandrel laterally in front of the channel to be picked up, the mandrel was equipped with a special hydraulic side shift, as the channel can also lie completely sideways on the pallet. The operator then drives the entire mandrel into the chute and the wheel arms into the pallet. The chute is then lifted and removed from storage. The driver then drives with the safely picked up chute to the empty pallet provided and places it on the pallet (lengthways). The special, extreme lateral displacement of the mandrel enables the concrete channels to be deposited on the outside of the pallet, which makes it possible to optimally cover the entire pallet surface with channels. The picked pallet is then lifted by the wheel arms and the initial lift and transported to the dispatch position.
As the SCHURZ universal pedestrian stacker is a double-deck high lift truck, it is also possible to lift a pallet using the double lift while transporting a channel on the carrying mandrel, and thus to be able to approach different rows of shelves during small-quantity order picking.
In addition, the support mandrel of the SCHURZ concrete element pedestrian stacker has a mounting grid for a SCHURZ suspension adapter so that other concrete elements can be safely picked up and transported, for example using suspended lifting tongs, without any further modifications.
As this vehicle should also be suitable for unrestricted pallet retrieval from the rack, the carrying mandrel can be folded upwards into the lift mast during normal pallet transport. Two U-shaped forks are then hooked in and locked in place without tools using a quick-release fastener. This means that – as originally – single pallets and two pallets can be transported at the same time in double-decker applications.
