The SCHURZ wheelset clamp was developed for the operation of a Liebherr Type 904 slewing ring loader. The wheelset clamp is mounted without tools using the SCHURZ quick-change system.
Removed wheelsets are delivered by wagon to Knittelfeld for reconditioning. After completion, the as-new wheelsets are loaded back onto a wagon and delivered to the relevant customers. Previously, the wheelsets were clamped to the axles and thus slightly damaged.
At the request of ÖBB, the wheelsets should only be picked up without damage to the bare running surfaces, thus preventing damage to the paintwork.
The clamp arms are hydraulically adjustable for a wheel diameter of 650 mm to 1100 mm. The load capacity is designed for 2,000 kg. The clamping force and rotation speed are individually adjustable. The load-bearing jaws are movable to ensure optimum support on the running surfaces. In addition, all contact surfaces have a replaceable special coating made of high-quality plastic to ensure that the wheelsets are picked up gently. The entire wheelset clamp can be rotated 360° by means of a hydraulic rotator to ensure efficient handling.
