Special mounting device

For our customer, a well-known Austrian window manufacturer, the mobile SCHURZ assembly device was manufactured as an alternative to the existing stationary assembly devices in the desired design for pick-up using existing Linde L 10 pedestrian stackers.

The loads are window frames in various sizes, which are reworked after production. Ventilation systems with air conditioning are subsequently installed in the frames. It should be possible to install them on the right or left side of the frame. Depending on which side is mounted, the window elements are positioned off-center so that they can be mounted from the front and back.

The customer already owns a Linde L 10 pedestrian stacker as a basic vehicle, which is also to be used for this application in order to bring the assembly device to the ideal location for the individual production process.

The Fa. ING. M. SCHURZ rose to this challenge and developed a special mechanical design for a pedestrian-controlled forklift truck as a solution. This is characterized by a large number of adjustment options, which now make it easier for the customer to rework his window elements of different sizes and widths safely and at the optimum working height. The load manipulator can be adapted to a wide variety of frame widths with little effort and by means of infinitely variable width adjustment. This is achieved using special aluminum profiles in combination with high-quality roller units with adjustable eccentric rollers and wipers that run on steel shafts. The guide carriages can absorb forces in all directions. The entire frame is inclined backwards at an angle of approx. 7°. There are ball-bearing support rollers at the bottom, which can also be extended on both sides.

As a further special feature, a specially developed clamping device ensures that the window frames are clamped to the SCHURZ special assembly device and thus secured to prevent the products from tilting. The clamping device can be operated with one hand and consists of a quick adjustment of the clamping path and a clamping unit. This clamping device is also height-adjustable in order to achieve optimum results.

All contact surfaces of the SCHURZ special mounting device have been fitted with a replaceable special profile plastic strip which leaves no marks on the white window frame.

Furthermore, height-adjustable box shelves have also been integrated on both sides of the SCHURZ special assembly device to ensure that various small parts for assembly are always to hand. There is also a storage table to ensure that the materials required by the assembly personnel are always to hand.

In order to ensure optimum safety, the customer’s basic vehicle was also equipped by the company. ING. M. SCHURZ adapted. For this purpose, the lifting mast was equipped with a special lowering safety device with automatic locking. This prevents the raised assembly device from being accidentally lowered and injuring a fitter. To increase the lateral stability, the wheel arms were cut off, extended and welded back on with a track widening. Despite the adaptations, the basic vehicle can still be used for transporting pallets if the assembly device is not required.

The SCHURZ special assembly device is attached to the customer’s basic vehicle by means of drive-in shoes and secured to the vehicle with a spring-loaded locking bolt.
