This time our customer – a well-known Austrian vehicle manufacturer/vehicle supplier – requires a special solution from the crane lifting technology division of the company. ING. M. SCHURZ. In this particular case, transmission units are to be manipulated during production using a load handling device.
However, these gear units can only be picked up in a certain position and set down in another position. This requires the load to be tilted by 90°. Until now, this has been done manually with a great deal of force.
The SCHURZ load handling attachment is picked up by an existing mini crane and moved to the gearbox.
The gearbox is mounted via the mounting points approved by the gearbox manufacturer and secured against slipping with the spring-loaded locking pin.
The gearbox is then manipulated from one assembly station to the next using the crane – well secured in the SCHURZ lifting gear.
After releasing the locking bolt for the 90° tilt, it is now also possible to tilt the gearbox by 90°, as the gearbox must be finally picked and placed in the mold pallet in this tilted position. The special design of this crane hoist enables tilting close to the gearbox’s center of gravity, meaning that this process can now be carried out with virtually no force.
