For our customer, an Austrian company for the production of wires and overhead cables for electrical power transmission, the SCHURZ transfer car for metal drums was designed and manufactured. In addition, two SCHURZ trailer devices including storage rack were manufactured, which can be mounted on the Linde E25 forklift truck with a basic load capacity of 2,500 kg at LSP 500 mm and on the Toyota SAS 30 forklift truck with a basic load capacity of 3,000 kg at LSP 500 mm.
The loads are large metal drums with a diameter of 1.6 m to 2.5 m and a maximum weight of 7.5 t, on which ropes or cables are wound. The metal drums stand on the ground and are to be transported within the company. Of course, large wooden drums could also be used.
As two different forklifts are involved, different sized pick-up devices are also required. The SCHURZ trailer devices, including storage rack, are equipped with a self-closing coupling and are picked up via the carrier plate of the respective truck. A special design ensures that the tractive forces are not transferred to the sideshift, but directly to the mast of the forklift truck via the carrier plate.
The empty SCHURZ skidding trailer for metal drums is now picked up with the required adapter. To do this, the SCHURZ trailer device / adapter is lifted out of the storage rack with the forklift, secured and automatically coupled to the SCHURZ trailer on the forklift side. The skidding trailer is then lifted and transported to the drum in order to drive around it. The drum is now secured and locked by means of the cross strut on the SCHURZ skidding trailer. The hole pattern on the SCHURZ drum skidding carriage allows the cross brace to be precisely adjusted to the different diameters of the drums to ensure secure locking. The respective load is thus fixed. As the drum is still on the ground at this point and therefore cannot be moved, the lift mast must be raised. Once the lift mast has been raised, the drum is lifted from the ground without overloading the forklift due to the special design of the SCHURZ skidding carriage. In this state, the rollers can be moved/pulled to the desired positions.
The Fa. ING. M. SCHURZ ensures that your skidding trailer is precisely tailored to the respective requirements of your company.
