This time, our customer, a manufacturer of various aluminum castings, needs to regularly load and unload casting tools into and from a dedicated casting machine. Due to a lack of space, a small, compact device is required, which is to be manipulated using the existing overhead crane.
It should be noted that the center of gravity of the machine changes when picking up casting tools weighing up to 3.5t. This requires the forks to be driven deep into the machine, which leads to a considerable load in the front area of the forks. The SCHURZ crane forks for foundry tools with electric center of gravity shift were designed and built for this special case.
There is a counterweight inside the SCHURZ tool manipulator. The electric center of gravity shift of the SCHURZ crane forks makes it possible to create an appropriate balance to bring the device into a horizontal position. The SCHURZ mold manipulator is self-sufficient – integrated rechargeable batteries with charger supply the system. It is operated via a radio remote control in high-quality crane standard.
The customer attaches additional markings in the upper area of the device to provide visual support for the horizontal position depending on the tool weight. An overload protection of the SCHURZ tool lifter reacts to excessive horizontal deviations when tools are picked up.
The tool molds are always picked up via the existing fork insertion lugs and secured against slipping on the SCHURZ crane forks at the points provided.
