The Fa. ING. M. SCHURZ manufactured and supplied this lifting device as a subcontractor. The SCHURZ axle transport spreader beam is designed for crane operation with a load capacity of up to 1,700 kg.
The loads are axles from subway train sets. After being detached from the subway train set, these axles must be picked up from the rails for internal inspection and lifted onto a platform in the set-down device using an overhead crane. This platform has a fall protection system, which does not allow the use of a standard lifting beam, as these lifting beams are generally higher and less compact, making this confined space situation an insurmountable obstacle.
The SCHURZ axle transport traverse was designed and manufactured as a workshop aid so that it can lift the respective axles safely and without barriers onto the desired platform. The fall protection of the platform is therefore not touched or damaged and does not have to be extensively modified.
To pick up the loads, the securing brackets of the SCHURZ axle transport cross beam are opened. The axles can now be removed or picked up. To manipulate the picked-up loads, the safety brackets are closed with bolts and safe manipulation is guaranteed. The support points have been provided with an additional coating to protect the axles against possible scratches when using the SCHURZ hoist.
