A well-known Austrian window manufacturer uses a wide variety of containers and special pallets to collect and dispose of its waste. The filled containers were previously picked up with various forklifts and attachments and emptied into large containers. A separate development team has been working for some time on the development of a special additional device to enable as many of the containers as possible to be emptied with one device. A prototype had already been produced, but it was not able to handle all the containers. Since the company ING. M. SCHURZ was able to offer a universal emptying device that can manipulate all existing containers due to its more than 35 years of experience in special machine construction, the order for development and construction was placed by the customer.
The SCHURZ universal emptying device fits on a Linde R20 reach truck and is designed to safely pick up the following containers and boxes, which are to be hydraulically secured and emptied forwards:
- Metal boxes, width 1,000 mm, depth top 1,200 mm, bottom 910 mm, height 900 mm from fork support, total height 1,000 mm, maximum weight with contents 700 kg. No run-in shoes.
- Metal long container, width 2,500 mm to 4,500 mm, depth 400 mm, height of fork support 500 mm, maximum loaded weight 500 kg. Version with run-in shoes.
- Metal pallet, width 6,222 mm, width over uprights for securing 3,060 mm, depth 760 mm, height of fork support 580 mm, maximum loaded weight 700 kg. No run-in shoes.
- Mesh boxes without run-in shoes 1,200 x 800 mm in transverse pick-up, height approx. 500 mm to 900 mm measured from fork support.
The SCHURZ multifunctional tipping device is permanently mounted on the carrier plate of the Linde reach truck and connected hydraulically. The special attachment consists of a tipping device and a hydraulic load holder, which secures the containers on the forks. The containers are picked up using forks and then secured on the forks with the load holder. The load holder consists of a middle section and a foldable, extendable arm on each side and can be adjusted as follows for the different containers:
For the metal boxes, the approx. 1,100 mm long hydraulically operated side securing arms are manually folded forwards by 90°. These then secure the 1,200 mm long metal container at the top on both sides. A space of approx. 200 mm is required between adjacent containers.
Mesh boxes are picked up crosswise and the folded-forward arms secure the mesh boxes on both sides, just like the metal boxes. The wire mesh boxes are 200 mm wider, so the holding arms are approx. 100 mm further inwards from the edge of the box on each side.
For the metal long containers, the arms are folded back and are therefore in line with the rear long side of the container. The rear long side of the container is now hydraulically secured. Additional retaining lugs secure the container against slipping on the forks.
For the metal pallets, the arms remain folded back and are therefore in line. To reach the uprights at a distance of 3,060 mm, the arms can be manually extended to approx. 3,160 mm on both sides. A safety lug on the forks prevents the pallets from slipping away.
