After several years of using conventional waste containers, the customer from the metal construction industry confronted us with the challenge of supplying a roll-off container for collecting a wide variety of punching and milling waste. The waste was to be fed directly into the container from a wide variety of production machines.
The requirements for the roll-off container are that it can empty itself independently and also tip back into the starting position without much effort. This function is not guaranteed with the containers available on the market. After several tests, the company ING. M. SCHURZ can offer the right solution. The basis is a standard emptying container, which has been optimized by various conversion measures.
In order to ensure reliable emptying, the filling structure of the container was modified using guide plates to optimize the centre of gravity of the contents, regardless of the filling level and material. In addition, weights have been attached to the front of the container to enable the emptying of a wide variety of metal waste. For example, metal waste containing different liquids (drilling oil emulsion) or metal swarf with a small filling volume can be emptied safely. The optimum function of the adapted tipping containers has already been successfully demonstrated in long-term tests. Further containers have already been ordered as part of a follow-up order.
To enable forklift-free, in-house handling, the roll-off containers have also been fitted with smooth-running fixed and swivel castors. The tipping mechanism can be easily triggered directly from the driver’s seat via the pull rope at any lifting height.
The SCHURZ roll-off container can be used for all commercially available front forklifts. In this particular case, the customer is using a Still forklift truck type R 60-50 with a basic load capacity of 5,000 kg at LSP 500 mm. The roll-off container is fitted with drive-in shoes, is picked up by the forks of the forklift truck and secured directly to the carrier plate via a chain.
