This special SCHURZ forklift transport hook was developed for a leather processing production company. The customer has around 20 different special containers for the internal handling of raw materials and waste. The containers are custom-built, with a steel roller on one side and an eyelet on the opposite side. The containers can weigh up to 12 tons. However, due to the one-sided lifting, a load capacity of only 4.5 tons is required. It should be possible to move the containers using existing forklift trucks.
The SCHURZ transport hook fits on a Linde H 50 D with a load capacity of 5,000 kg at LSP 600 mm and a Toyota FD 45 with a load capacity of 4,500 kg at LSP 500 mm and is picked up instead of the forks. The forklift transport hook can be picked up using both FEM 3 and FEM 4.
The distance from the carrier plate of the forklift truck to the suspension point of the container should be approx. 500 mm to ensure optimum maneuvering. Using the forklift transport hook, the roll container can be lifted approx. 100 mm to 200 mm using the lifting function and then pulled or pushed using the forklift’s travel drive.
