For our customer from Germany, who operates a transport and logistics company, the SCHURZ unloader was designed and manufactured to fit the existing Jungheinrich forklift truck type EFG 218K with a basic load capacity of 1,800 kg at LSP 500 mm.
Plastic crates filled with bicycle tires are to be emptied at our customer’s premises. These containers have a maximum weight of 250 kg. A standard turning device cannot be used, as these special plastic boxes can be picked up by the forks, but cannot be turned and emptied. The multi-part boxes would fall apart and off the forks. Furthermore, the specified dimensions of the existing plastic containers had to be taken into account in the design. The containers should be emptied to the front so that the bicycle tires can be placed in a large press for further processing.
The SCHURZ emptying device was permanently mounted on one of the existing forklifts and connected hydraulically. The SCHURZ special device consists of a clamping device to enable the containers – regardless of which side they are approached from – to be easily clamped safely and without damage using specially adapted contact plates. These contact plates are equipped with retaining lugs to secure the multi-part container during the turning process. Once the containers have been picked up, they can be turned 180° to the front and thus emptied.
